Radiographer II - Edmond

Position Title: Radiographer II – Edmond Department: Adult Diagnostic X‑Ray Overview The Radiographer II is an experienced professional who, under general supervision, performs routine Diagnostic X‑Ray examinations with increased independence, using fixed and/or portable equipment in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines and quality standards. Provides exceptional patient care while working towards expertise. Responsibilities Utilize advanced skill set to perform diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider in routine or emergent conditions under limited supervision. Ensure testing is performed safely and meets quality standards, focusing on patient‑centric care. Assist with basic fluoroscopic procedures when required. Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with physician‑ordered exams. Administer contrast per protocol and manage or escalates contrast reactions. Respond to inquiries from patients/family, provide clear info on testing and expected results. Collaborate with team members across OU Health, including providers, for exceptional patient care. Conduct post‑testing quality reviews independently. Accurately document in EMR/PACS per policies, transfer images to appropriate EHS, enter technical data and prepare studies for reporting. Perform quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Ensure technical quality meets established protocols and accreditation standards. Act as a departmental preceptor, provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members, assist onboarding. Support OU Health's academic partnerships by teaching students in radiologic program. Contribute to protocol optimization and dose reduction efforts. Prepare and present in‑service trainings as requested by leadership. Assist with quality assurance, performance improvement tasks. Assist with ordering and maintaining inventory. May provide on‑call coverage outside regular duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program (ARRT). 3–5 years of experience as a Radiographer. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). ARRT(RT) Certification required at hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Core knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy/physiology, diagnostic X‑ray technologies, terminology. Ability to apply core‑level specialty theory and techniques with limited supervision. Recognize and correct imaging artifacts independently or with guidance. Exercise independent judgment in accordance with approved protocols. Knowledge of imaging policies, procedures, techniques, and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Provide appropriate care for age groups served. Apply HIPAA guidelines and standards. Prioritize and complete clinical/non‑clinical assignments. Multi‑task and maintain composure under stress. Work effectively within a diverse team, communicate with others. Dependable, report to work as scheduled. Show sensitivity to patients’ physical/psychological needs. Maintain accurate records, work accurately with names, numbers, codes. Problem‑solve with limited supervision. Train and mentor others.
