Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 48 Hours Guaranteed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 20-bed Surgical Specialty Unit with a 4:1 patient ratio (5:1 with a patient care tech)
• Perform and manage procedures including ostomy care and irrigation, NGT placement and management, Foley catheter placement and maintenance, central line management, JP drains, and wound management
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and nutritional supplementation including TPN and G/J tube management
• Operate unit equipment including Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural, Alaris PCA, Pyxis Medication Dispensing, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, wound vacs, and capnostream machines
• Document patient care using the Meditech electronic documentation system
• Float as needed to like medical/surgical/telemetry units including ortho neuro, med/tele, and CDU

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Kansas or a compact state
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Understanding of post-operative patient care
• Ability to meet scheduling requirements including every 3rd weekend and two Mondays and two Fridays per 4-week scheduling period

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical or specialty unit
• Familiarity with bariatric or colorectal surgical patient populations
• Prior experience with Meditech documentation system
