Patent Agent / Patent Associate (Elec/Comp/Soft Eng.) 3+ Years – Intellectual Property (Austin, TX | Onsite)
Full-Time | Software & Emerging Tech | Competitive Compensation + Bonus
Direct Counsel represents a well-regarded Am Law firm seeking a Patent Agent or Patent Associate to join its growing Intellectual Property practice in Austin. This is a standout opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including AI/ML, software, fintech, and telecommunications.
You’ll play a key role in building and managing strategic patent portfolios for innovative clients ranging from startups to established technology companies.
What You’ll Do:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications in the computer arts (software, AI/ML, fintech, telecom, etc.)
- Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP protection
- Work directly with inventors and business teams to identify and protect innovations
- Support domestic and international patent prosecution efforts
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of patent prosecution experience
- Strong experience drafting software and computer-related patent applications
- USPTO registration required
- Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or similar
- Experience with AI/ML or emerging technologies is a strong plus
- Excellent writing, analytical, and client communication skills
- Strong academic credentials
