Job Description
Job Title: RN II - Step Down Unit

Profession: Registered Nurse

Specialty: Step Down Unit

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night Shift

Hours per Shift: 12 hours

Experience: 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience preferred

License: Current RN license in state of practice required

Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire

Must-Have: Effective communication and clinical judgment skills

Description: Responsible for planning and providing nursing care to patients in the step down unit.
Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care of patients during life-threatening emergencies.
Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice.
Provides appropriate nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient situations.
Is competent in routine nursing skills such as medication administration and intravenous therapy.
Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and recommendations for monitoring based on patient presentation.
Manages care of patients post-coronary interventions requiring specialized equipment.
Initiates multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the health care team.
Documents education provided to patients and families using appropriate teaching methods.
Completes accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided.
Performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement in care and unit operations.
Adapts to new approaches to problem-solving and embraces changes in unit goals.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Commitment to safety and wellbeing of all associates and patients is essential.
Compliance with vaccination requirements is a condition of employment.
Participation in E-Verify is required.
