Lead Data Scientist

Salary: $126,300 - 126,300 per year Requirements:

• I have a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science/engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• I possess at least 7 years of experience in developing and applying machine learning models and advanced analytics to tackle complex business challenges.
• I have 1 year of recent experience supporting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or a law enforcement program.
• I have 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
• I have a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, typically obtained through an undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field.
• I am proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, Scala, Java, and SQL for data extraction.
• I am experienced with statistical software packages like SAS, SPSS Modeler, and R.
• I have extensive knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including pattern recognition, classification, clustering, and entity resolution.

Responsibilities:

• I will perform hands-on analysis and modeling by creating intervention hypotheses and experiments, evaluating data needs and available sources, determining optimal analytical approaches, conducting exploratory data analysis, and generating features (e.g., identification, derivation, aggregation).
• I will collaborate with mission stakeholders to define and scope mission challenges where big data interventions may offer critical solutions, developing robust project plans with key milestones, detailed deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies.
• I will demonstrate proficiency in extracting, cleaning, and transforming ICE transactional and mission data associated with identified problem areas to build predictive models while producing appropriate supporting documentation.
• I will utilize my knowledge of various statistical and machine learning techniques to define and develop programming algorithms, as well as train, evaluate, and deploy predictive analytics models that directly inform mission decisions.
• I will participate in projects aimed at identifying patterns or anomalies within large datasets, performing automated text/data classification and categorization, and entity recognition and extraction.
• I will communicate project management details, technical design, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior government stakeholders, throughout the model development and project lifecycle through written and in-person briefings.
