About Alcove OTR

Alcove - OTR is the first evolution of the MadTree hospitality experience; a space intentionally designed to connect people to nature and each other in the heart of Cincinnati's historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

Located in one of Cincinnati's most historic and storied German beer halls, Alcove - OTR lives inside a building that was beautifully restored in 2022 and thoughtfully reimagined for a new generation of gathering and hospitality. The LEED-certified space blends approachable dining with warm hospitality, thoughtful design, and a nature-inspired atmosphere that feels both elevated and inviting. Complete with more than 2,500 live plants, stunning living walls, patio space, and our signature greenhouse bar, the space blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors while creating a nook of nature in the middle of the city.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Line Cook creates memorable food experiences that exceed guest expectations while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. As a key member of our culinary team, they prepare fresh, flavorful dishes that bring people together. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck.

STATUS: Part-Time

REPORTS TO: Corporate Chef / Kitchen Manager

SHIFTS: Must have availability (at least two of the days) Friday, Saturday, Sunday

COMPENSATION RANGE: $16.00-$20.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and execute menu items including pizzas, nachos, sandwiches, and salads.
• Operate and maintain key equipment including pizza ovens, conveyor ovens, flattop grills, fryers, and food processors.
• Handle specialized tools including pizza peels, dough dockers, and portion scales.
• Maintain consistent quality standards in presentation and taste.
• Follow recipes and portion controls accurately.
• Operate in multiple kitchen stations including prep, pizza, sandwich, and expo.
• Practice proper food handling and storage procedures.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
• Maintain clean and organized work stations.
• Support prep tasks and kitchen projects as needed.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and service team members.
• Monitor food quality and freshness.
• Execute opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of allergens and dietary restrictions.
• Assist with the preparation, cooking, and plating of food, according to recipes and specifications for Private Events of up to 300 people.
• Practice proper safety and sanitation procedures.
• Participate in training and knowledge development programs.
• Be ready and willing to help with other kitchen duties as needed.
• Spend time volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives with excitement, encouraging your teammates to do the same.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities satisfactorily. • High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ year kitchen experience preferred.
• Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to frequently reach, bend, and use hands and arms.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
