The Precast Assistant Project Manager Position

The Precast Assistant Project Manager role provides the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the business and financial side of construction while gaining hands-on field experience in Midwest Steel’s growing precast group. The position supports the Project Manager and project team on erection-only precast projects, overseeing the installation of precast wall panels that make up the building’s exterior envelope. The group has steady work throughout the Northeast, with the potential to grow into structural steel projects as well.

 

Responsibilities include document control, scheduling, expediting, labor cost reporting, purchase orders, monthly billings, and supporting quality control efforts. The Precast Assistant Project Manager works closely with the precast fabricator, customers, engineers, and field teams to keep projects on schedule.

 

The majority of the work is based in New York, with frequent travel into New York City. The Precast Assistant Project Manager also travels throughout the Northeast as needed.

 

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Precast Assistant Project Manager

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or equivalent training and experience
• Two or more years of construction experience, preferably with a specialty contractor
• Experience with precast concrete, structural steel, or erection work preferred
• Exposure to document control, scheduling, purchase orders, or project billing
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
• Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals

· Ability to travel regularly into New York City and throughout the Northeast, with occasional travel to the company’s Detroit headquarters
