Interpreter - Spanish: Special Education Summer School (Internal Applicants Only) Location: Liberty, New York (Sullivan BOCES Special Ed Summer School) Stipend: $150.00 (July 6, 2026 to August 14, 2026) Job Description Assist school personnel and Spanish‑speaking parents and students to communicate more effectively through oral translation from Spanish to English and vice versa. Responsibilities include translation in the classroom, conferences, telephone calls, testing, information gathering, and emergency situations. The interpreter may also perform written translations from English to Spanish on an as‑needed basis. Responsibilities Orally translate in the classroom, during conferences, testing, and other school events. Assist Spanish‑speaking students and their families with the enrollment process. Help school staff understand and appreciate Latino culture. Facilitate communication between teachers, staff, and non‑English speaking families. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and family information. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Demonstrated fluency in both English and Spanish (speaking, understanding, reading, and writing). Extensive knowledge of both languages. Skill in translating spoken words at a normal speaking rate. Ability to translate verbal messages to written documents and vice versa.
