Master Technician

Performs skilled and supervisory work at the Master Technician level in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel powered automotive and related equipment. Work involves the performance of skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of automobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, mowers, ATV's, tractors, and other standard and specialized equipment; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma.

A valid driver's license.

Either permanent status with the City of New Orleans and three (3) years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic III, Automotive Maintenance Technician, Automotive Maintenance Specialist or any combination thereof.

OR five (5) years of journeyman experience as an automotive mechanic.

Kind of Examination:

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.

This is an original entrance and promotional examination.
