Occupational Therapist-Hand

Implements high-quality physical therapy services for patients, caregivers, and facilities with minimal supervision, in accordance with the principles and practices of physical therapy and company policies. Develops treatment plans, supervises assistants and aides, contributes to case management, and delivers excellent patient care. Maintains positive relationships with facilities and clients while actively enhancing client relations.

Essential Functions:

• Understand and comply with the State Practice Act governing Physical Therapists, including supervision rules.
• Review and adhere to the company's Clinical Operations Policies & Procedures Manual annually.
• Complete all required Medicare compliance and OSHA training.
• Evaluate patients, establish treatment plans, and provide skilled physical therapy services where medically necessary.
• Maintain clear, ongoing documentation of goals, progress, and medical necessity.
• Complete all documentation (pre-certifications, physician reports, daily notes, charge tickets, etc.) accurately, legibly, and on time to meet deadlines.
• Maintain open, respectful communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and third-party payors at all times.
• Attend and participate in required facility meetings as directed.
• Complete sufficient continuing education and maintain current CPR certification to meet state licensure requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Utilize time efficiently to meet facility productivity standards.
• Participate in and present clinical in-services as directed.
• Stay current with changes in healthcare and physical therapy practice.
• Take a significant role in specific center operations as agreed with the Center Manager.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently lift patients using proper biomechanical techniques; must be capable of lifting 50 pounds independently.
• Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly throughout the workday.
• Sufficient visual acuity to evaluate, diagnose, and monitor patients and maintain accurate records.
• Adequate speech and hearing to give and understand directions.
• Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and community.
• Fine motor skills for accurate documentation, scheduling, and handling of therapeutic equipment.

Required Credentials:
• Graduation from a physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or, in the case of an internationally educated physical therapist, from a non-CAPTE accredited program seeking licensure as a physical therapist, a substantially equivalent education.
