Job Summary Job No: 540469, Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer, Location: San José, Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Faculty - Letters/Humanities, Temporary, Part Time. Global Humanities Lecturer Responsibilities Teach a range of courses in the Humanities including core skills courses (e.g.,HUM100WandHUM190), global humanities courses (e.g.,HUM128), and possibly Humanities Honors courses. Depending on qualifications, may also teach American Studies and Religious Studies courses. Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Hold regular office hours and work cooperatively with department faculty, staff, and chair; participate in required course grading and assessment activities. Organize all classes within Canvas LMS. Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the class schedule (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Required Qualifications ABD (All but dissertation) or Ph.D. in a relevant interdisciplinary field such as Humanities, Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, etc.; or in a relevant field of Humanities or Social Sciences, including but not limited to Literature, History. Demonstrated strong college level teaching skills and experience. Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience. Preferred Qualifications Interest in and record of scholarly activity. Compensation Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting salary: L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959; L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481; L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431; L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347. Part‑time rates are prorated. See Faculty Salary Schedule for more information. Employment Conditions Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required. You will be subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and may need to report Clery incidents and complete required training. Conditional Offer Work is located in California and requires commuting to campus.
