About the Opportunity

We are seeking a mid-level Buyer who will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services required to support assembly and manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring uninterrupted material flow, optimizing total cost, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and achieving supplier quality and delivery objectives.   

The Buyer is responsible for the full purchasing cycle, including sourcing, RFQ development, supplier selection, negotiation, purchase order placement, supplier performance management, and resolution of material and commercial issues. The position works closely with Account Management, Engineering, Assembly Kitting, Production, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to ensure customer and production requirements are met. 

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, and decision-making skills; understands manufacturing and MRP processes; and can independently manage priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Experience in aerospace, electronics, PCB, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is strongly preferred. 

What You'll Do:

• Generates RFQ's and places purchase orders, negotiates lowest cost and most favorable terms to support material demand requirements 
• Responsible for the acquisition of goods and services at the right time and acceptable quality 
• Must follow up on open purchase orders to ensure product is delivered timely 
• Responsible for supplier On Time Delivery (OTD) 
• Maintains relationships with suppliers, and recommends changes in purchasing procedures to improve service, and quality 
• Contributes to continuous improvement activities for the assembly MRP process 
• Resolves supplier invoicing issues and implements corrective actions to minimize future errors 
• Participates in daily and weekly production meetings to provide material parts status 
• Acts as a cross-functional team member in partnership with account management, assembly kitting and assembly production associates to ensure orders are released to the floor in an efficient and timely manner  
• Monitors MRP to ensure material supply is aligned to system demand and strategically uses system planning and parameters to ensure optimal inventory levels 
• Conducts periodic supplier business reviews to improve supplier performance 
• Performs other duties as assigned 
• Supports cost estimating by requesting supplier quotes 

What You'll Bring:  

• Must be able read, write and communicate effectively in English 
• Excellent organizational and decision-making skills 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Prior experience in aerospace industry is a plus 
• Basic knowledge of technical blueprints, certifications and standards  
• Proficient in reading drawings 
• Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements (Preferred)  
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Windows and Microsoft (Excel and Word) 
• Proficient understanding of manufacturing, PCB or engineering processes (Preferred)  
• Experience working with an MRP System  
• Experience working with SAGE or ProCim (a plus) 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, Purchasing, Inventory Management, or a related field is preferred; or, Associate degree with significant relevant industry experience may be considered. 
• 5+ years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials-management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 
• Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, purchase order management, and supplier performance management. 
• Experience managing MRP-driven purchasing and material requirements. 
• Demonstrated inventory control experience. 

Schedule :

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime as needed
• Weekends as needed

Work Setting:

• On-site only

Job Type: Full-time

California Pay Range

$55,000—$65,800 USD

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
