Construction Superintendent

Position Overview The Construction Superintendent is the on-site leader responsible for executing commercial rooftop solar projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans. This role works closely with Project Management to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards. The Superintendent oversees daily field operations, manages crews and subcontractors, and ensures all work meets safety regulations and design specifications. This individual will play a critical role in driving accountability, mentoring field staff, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners. Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Field Leadership Lead daily on-site construction activities for commercial rooftop solar installations Supervise field teams including Foremen, Electricians, Apprentices, and subcontractors Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and company standards Maintain project pace, sequencing, and productivity to meet schedule milestones Scheduling & Coordination Collaborate with Project Managers and Foremen to develop and maintain project schedules Create and manage 3-week lookahead schedules and communicate updates to stakeholders Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety programs, safety is the top priority Identify and mitigate job site hazards, especially related to rooftop work and fall protection Partner with Safety Manager to implement site-specific safety plans Quality Control & Inspections Ensure installation quality meets engineering standards and client expectations Coordinate inspections and work with QA/QC teams to minimize punch list items Track and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies Reviewing plans and identifying constructability issues Participating in RFI processes Coordinating with engineering and project management teams Assist with estimating, material takeoffs, and equipment coordination when needed Team Development Mentor and develop Foremen and field crews Provide performance feedback and support training initiatives Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement Client & Partner Relationships Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, general contractors, and suppliers Represent the company professionally in meetings and on job sites Communicate project updates, risks, and solutions proactively Qualifications Required Extensive rooftop solar construction experience (REQUIRED) 3+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman on commercial solar projects Strong knowledge of commercial rooftop systems (50KW–10MW preferred) Deep understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field operations Familiarity with OSHA standards and rooftop safety requirements (fall protection, etc.) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plansets, and technical documents Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Willingness to travel across Illinois (occasional overnight travel up to ~10%) Valid driver’s license Preferred 7–10 years of field construction management experience (if not solar-specific) Experience with construction management software Degree in Construction Management or related field Electrical background or apprenticeship experience What Success Looks Like Projects delivered on time, every time Safe job sites with zero incidents High-performing, well-coordinated crews Strong client satisfaction and repeat business 401(k) Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off Work Schedule Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts 401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Pay: $150,000-$190,000 annually (based on experience) #J-18808-Ljbffr
