Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting, including triage, assessment, and reassessment of pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations
• Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and diagnostic study results, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
• Monitor hemodynamic status, demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identify dysrhythmias, and treat appropriately
• Administer medications safely following the five medication rights; prepare, hang, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids
• Maintain accurate and thorough nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes
• Assist physicians with procedures in the Emergency Department and participate in performance improvement activities

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum of one (1) year of critical care experience
• Current California RN license required
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
• Basic computer knowledge

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior emergency room experience strongly preferred
• Experience with age-specific care across the life span, including interpreting patient data to identify and address age-specific needs
• Familiarity with psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual considerations in patient and family care
