Supervisor – School Counseling and Supportive Services Department: Strategic Performance Location: 3700 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43207 Reports To: Executive Director – Whole Child Supports FLSA Status: Exempt Starting Salary: $110,210 per year Position Overview The Supervisor of School Counselors provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the district’s comprehensive school counseling program. This position ensures counseling services support students’ academic achievement, social‑emotional development, and college and career readiness. The Supervisor works collaboratively with school leaders, district departments, and community partners to implement best practices aligned with state standards and the district’s strategic goals. Essential Duties Provide leadership and supervision to school counselors across elementary, middle, and high schools Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, data‑driven school counseling program aligned to the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) National Model and Ohio standards Monitor and support counselors in delivering services related to academic planning, social‑emotional support, and postsecondary readiness Use data to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement Provide coaching, professional development, and evaluation for school counselors Collaborate with principals and district leaders to align counseling services with school improvement plans Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to counseling services, student services, and mental health Support crisis response and intervention efforts in coordination with school leadership and student support teams Lead initiatives related to equity, access, and student well‑being Facilitate partnerships with community agencies, higher education institutions, and workforce organizations Manage budgets, resources, and program implementation for the counseling department Assist in recruitment, hiring, and retention of diverse, highly qualified school counselors Required Minimum Qualifications Education Level: Master’s degree in School Counseling, Educational Administration, or a related field Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a school counselor Demonstrated experience in leadership, program coordination, or supervision Licensure/Certification: Valid Ohio School Counselor license Valid Ohio Administrator License (or ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe) State credentialed as an Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES) Evaluator (or ability to obtain the credentialing within a specified timeframe) Preferred Job Qualifications Education Level: Training in trauma‑informed practices, mental health supports, and crisis intervention Experience: Prior experience supervising or coaching school counselors Experience in an urban school district Experience designing and implementing district‑wide initiatives Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Deep understanding of comprehensive school counseling programs and best practices Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned function Knowledge of Ohio graduation requirements and college/career readiness indicators Knowledge of college and career readiness frameworks, including FAFSA, career pathways, and postsecondary planning Familiarity with student information systems and counseling‑related reporting tools Skills Demonstrated supervisory skills to effectively manage daily operations and administration of assigned tasks Written and computer skills necessary to maintain various records Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Abilities Analytical ability to develop plans of action to address various concerns in a timely manner Demonstrated ability to effectively serve as a leader and member of a team Ability to support culturally responsive practices and equitable student outcomes Ability to analyze student data and translate it into actionable strategies Columbus City Schools (CCS) is an equal opportunity employer.
