Description:

The Accounting Manager plans, directs, and oversees the Company’s accounting operations to ensure accurate financial

reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and timely financial analysis. This role leads the accounting

team, manages the general ledger and month-end close process, supports budgeting and forecasting, coordinates audit

and tax activities and provides financial insight to leadership to support sound business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines for

financial transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and budget preparation.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end general ledger close process, ensuring completeness, accuracy, timeliness,

and appropriate supporting documentation.

• Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, inventory-related

accounting entries, and other balance sheet accounts as applicable.

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of periodic financial statements, management reports, forecasts, cashflow

reporting, and annual operating budgets.

• Ensure financial statements and accounting records comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),

applicable financial reporting standards, and Company policies.

• Maintain responsibility for the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounting records, and

financial-reporting processes.

• Analyze financial results, investigate significant variances, identify trends, and communicate findings and

recommendations to management.

• Provide financial analysis related to manufacturing operations, capital investments, equipment purchases, inventory,

product costing, pricing decisions, margin performance, contract negotiations, and other strategic initiatives.

• Partner with operational and executive leadership to develop short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and

business plans.

• Lead the annual budgeting process and support periodic reforecasting activities; monitor actual performance against

budget and provide variance explanations.

• Establish and maintain adequate financial internal controls to safeguard Company assets and support accurate reporting.

• Coordinate the annual external audit, including preparation of schedules, audit support, responses to auditor inquiries,

and implementation of process improvements resulting from audit findings.

• Audit accounting records and processes to ensure compliance with Company policy, state and federal regulations, and

applicable accounting standards.

• Oversee tax planning activities throughout the fiscal year and coordinate the preparation and filing of annual corporate

tax returns and other required tax filings, working with external tax advisors as needed.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial, tax, reporting, and record-retention requirements.

• Support payroll accounting, payroll reconciliations, and payroll-related reporting in partnership with Human Resources

and payroll providers, as applicable.

• Evaluate accounting systems, reporting tools, and processes; recommend and implement improvements that increase

efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

• Prepare financial information and presentations for executive leadership as requested.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, internal controls,

budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting staff.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends and risks, and translate findings into clear business recommendations.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet

recurring deadlines.

• Proficiency with accounting, ERP, financial reporting, and tax-preparation software.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar business software.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive financial information.

• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, packaging, or inventory-based environment is preferred.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field required.

• Eight or more years of progressive accounting experience required.

• Prior accounting leadership or supervisory experience required.

• Experience managing month-end close, financial statements, general ledger accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits,

and internal controls required.

• Manufacturing, inventory, standard-costing, or cost-accounting experience strongly preferred.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
