Enterprise Data Engineering Manager, FVP

Compensation and Benefits Axos Bank Target Range: $145,000.00 /Yr. – $180,000.00 /Yr. Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including location, experience, skills, specialty, and education. Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 10% and Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 10%. Bonuses may be awarded semi‑annually based on achievement of performance goals and targets. Locations Onsite at any of the following locations: San Diego, CA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Centennial, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Kansas City, MO; Edison, NJ; Omaha, NE. Remote or Hybrid is not available. Responsibilities Head the development and delivery of enterprise‑scale mission‑critical data platforms, e.g., Databricks Lakehouse, GCP services to meet critical business priorities. Establish the roadmap and vision for enterprise‑scale data engineering, executing on this roadmap to deliver shared frameworks for broader enterprise application development teams. Define and implement robust data engineering standards and quality frameworks governing data pipeline development, testing, and deployment across the data platform. Champion modern DataOps and CI/CD practices, automating deployment, testing, and monitoring to accelerate delivery speed and ensure data quality. Provide technical leadership and hands‑on guidance to the Data Engineering team, ensuring timely and high‑quality project delivery and enhancements. Mentor engineers in advanced PySpark, SQL, dbt, Fivetran, and cloud‑native development to maximize team output. Collaborate with multiple teams, develop end‑to‑end solutions for data sourcing, processing/integration, provisioning, and delivery. Deliver projects to successful completion against predefined success criteria, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery. Design and develop highly scalable, efficient, and reliable data infrastructure to meet business objectives. Coach, develop, and create a vision for the team, educating cross‑functional teams on leveraging data for revenue and performance opportunities. Drive IT solutions that balance business needs with pragmatic, integrated technical design. Remain current on key technology, business, and industry trends. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field. 10+ years of experience managing Data Engineering and leading technology teams. 7+ years working with SQL Server and other DBMS in cloud and on‑prem ecosystems. 7+ years working with cloud‑native data ecosystems (GCP, Azure, AWS) and cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks. Experience designing and optimizing pipelines using PySpark, Spark, and modern ELT/ETL tools (e.g., Fivetran, dbt). Advanced proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and data integration tools. Strong experience with data streaming technologies, Big Data platforms, and database types including SQL and NoSQL. Leadership experience mentoring technical staff and setting technical direction. Deep understanding of data architecture and data in the context of business goals. Proficient in building a modern next‑generation Lakehouse platform. Enterprise implementation, strategic planning, and strong business acumen. Preferred: Financial Services experience. Benefits Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
