Lunch Monitor

Salary Non-Benefited Salary Scale; Grade S02: $17.13 per hour Work Year Calendar and Hours Non-benefited Daily work hours: 11:10 AM - 1:10 PM Role Lunch Monitors have the primary responsibility for monitoring student behavior during meal service, assisting with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, assisting with recycling, and assisting with the flow of student movement in the Cafeteria. Essential Functions Reporting directly to the principal or assistant principal, Lunch Monitors perform, at a minimum, the following duties: Follows established school routines, processes, and procedures as they relate to lunch, recess, transitioning, etc. Monitors student behavior during meal service or recess blocks during lunch, per established school expectations. Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills. Circulates throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten assisting students as needed. Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time. Regular and predictable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Education/Training/Experience Required Qualifications Ability to read and write equivalent to a 10th grade educational level. Preferred Qualifications None. Certification/License None. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Bilingual (Spanish). Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs. Physical Requirements Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to spend long hours standing. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects. Sufficient mobility to move about the work area. Sufficient vision to read and comprehend printed materials, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects. Occasionally lift fifteen (15) pounds. Occasionally climb or balance. Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Sufficient hearing to hear and comprehend conversations in person and on the telephone, as well as distinguish sounds up to twenty (20) feet. Performs other duties assigned by the school principal. Work Environment Moderate noise (examples: office environment with computers, printers, and telephones; regular conversations within offices, cubicles, hallways, and conference rooms; meetings one-on-one, in small groups, and large settings, etc.).
