Design Assistant

Hugo’s Interiors is seeking a creative, organized, and customer-focused Design Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position offering a competitive salary, commission opportunities, and a strong benefits package.

About the Position

The Design Assistant will work closely with two interior designers, supporting client projects from concept through completion. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with clients, furnishings, fabrics, color, and design in a fast-paced retail and design environment.

The position will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining our design resource library, assisting with presentations and drawings, communicating with vendors, and supporting the overall client experience.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous retail sales experience
• Proficiency in CAD and/or SketchUp
• A strong understanding of color, design, proportion, and scale
• Knowledge of furniture, fabrics, lighting, accessories, and design vendors
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• A positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
• A genuine passion for interiors and exceptional customer service

Key Responsibilities

• Assist two interior designers with client projects and daily activities
• Organize and maintain the design library, samples, and vendor resources
• Prepare drawings, presentations, selections, and project materials
• Communicate with vendors and track product information, availability, and orders
• Assist clients in the showroom and contribute to the retail sales experience
• Help coordinate project details from the initial design concept through installation
• Maintain an organized, welcoming, and professional design environment
