Field Service Engineer

The client, a global technology company supporting the paper, energy, and raw materials industries, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide specialized mechanical and process support for winder equipment at customer sites. This is a remote position requiring frequent travel to deliver hands-on service, technical audits, and equipment optimization for the client's customer base.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Paper Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, service, or operational experience with paper machine winders and finishing equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of winder technologies, slitting systems, web handling, and hydraulics
• Advanced ability to interpret technical drawings, mechanical schematics, and assembly blueprints
• Proficiency with remote collaboration tools and standard Windows-based programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to travel up to 60%, including occasional international travel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience training or mentoring junior field service technicians
• Experience supervising third-party teams during installation or rebuild projects
• Experience assisting with service and upgrade quotations

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized mechanical and process field service support on existing and newly installed winders
• Analyze winding parameters such as rider roll force, drum torque, and web tension to troubleshoot and optimize roll structure and quality
• Plan and prepare for service execution, including resources, tools, drawings, and materials
• Supervise third-party installation work and internal mechanical teams during installations and rebuilds
• Conduct on-site winder audits to evaluate mechanical condition and process performance
• Lead customer meetings to review findings, progress, and recommendations
• Generate technical reports including data, photos, recommended parts, and maintenance plans
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and process-related winder issues on-site and remotely
• Assist with time and resource estimates for service and upgrade quotes
• Train customer staff on proper winder operation and maintenance
• Complete accurate time and expense reporting and follow all safety procedures
