Visa’s Global Token Services Organization is a community of problem solvers and innovators reshaping the future of digital commerce. We operate the tokenization platform that powers fan‑favorite experiences like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, allowing customers to transact securely and seamlessly with their favorite merchants online, in‑person, or on device all over the world.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Software Engineering Director who can set a company‑wide example of how to lead individual contributors as they plan work, execute daily tasks, and improve operations so that the team can produce consistent, predictable output. The ideal candidate is a player‑coach: when not coaching and mentoring the people on their team, they are rolling up their sleeves and contributing their technical expertise in furtherance of our mission. They will work closely with other members of the management team, key business stakeholders, and senior technical staff across the organization to align on and deliver our ambitious strategy.

• Actively collaborate with cross‑functional leaders in defining product and technical roadmap.
• Deliver robust and scalable software services to production by leveraging cutting‑edge technologies while acting as a player‑coach.
• Uphold the highest levels of application security standards by ensuring compliance with secure software development lifecycle best practices.
• Design new or improve existing processes using pragmatic data‑driven decision making.

Essential Functions

• Align enhancements and modifications to existing software coding standards and design specifications across regions, ensuring they meet current security standards.
• Guide the implementation of automation to improve effectiveness and efficiencies of systems and tools across regions and support development of new automation initiatives.
• Maintain communication with regional leadership across functions to monitor and direct the cadence of code reviews, on‑call rotations, and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
• Leverage back‑end technical expertise on underlying systems and platforms across the organization to lead systematic improvements in processes that fulfill customer and business objectives.
• Drive alignment and strategy across teams, regions, and functions, focusing on long‑term automation, efficiency, and global standards.
• Lead at the highest level, influencing broad organizational and regional strategies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree, or 13+ years of relevant work experience.
• 12+ years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8‑10 years of experience with an advanced degree (e.g., master’s, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of experience with a PhD.
• Growth mindset, curiosity, and passion for technologies; enjoys challenging global projects.
• Comfort in pushing boundaries and “hacking” beyond traditional solutions.
• Expertise in one or more general development languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++).
• Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability.
• Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev‑Ops, and Agile/Scrum teams.

Benefits

Estimated salary range: $207,500.00 to $332,400.00 USD per year, which may include potential incentive payments if applicable. Salary may vary based on job‑related factors. The position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Travel Requirements

Requires travel 5‑10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

The position will be performed in an office setting. The incumbent will sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

Hybrid Work

This is a hybrid position. The expected number of in‑office days will be confirmed by the hiring manager.
