Assembler/Tester B (2nd Shift) – Eaton Corporation, Los Angeles, CA. Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking an Assembler/Tester B for the 2nd shift (1:45 pm – 10:15 pm). The hourly rate ranges from $23.92 to $35.88, generally starting at $27.00. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations. What you’ll do Assemble and test routine mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies of simple to moderate product lines that include commercial parts for customers such as Boeing, Embraer, Gulfstream, Cessna, and Airbus. May occasionally work on electrical assemblies and solder. Report to the Production Supervisor/Manager in Skydrol. Essential Functions Assemble and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies, ensuring activities are performed correctly and proper tooling and documentation are used with little to no supervision. Organize data and prepare test reports. Perform lock wire/safety wire and nameplate. Proactively identify best practices. Use hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, flow meters, multimeters, test boxes or specialized test equipment as needed. Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, testing schematics, verbal and written instructions. Perform cross‑training when required. Prepare material, including lapping of surfaces with proper tooling techniques and compounds. Perform visual inspections, identify defects, and handle items according to established procedures. Use test equipment for in‑process testing and final ATPs. Assist in process improvements. Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling calibration before use. Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned; may be temporarily reassigned to cover workload in other production areas as necessary. Overtime is required to meet business needs and may be required as requested. Qualifications Basic Qualifications High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum of 2 years in assembly within a manufacturing, aerospace, or military environment. Minimum of 2 years of testing one or more of the following: mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical assemblies. No relocation benefit is offered; only candidates residing within 50 miles of the Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered. Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to ITAR; all applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee). Eaton will consider applicants with criminal histories, consistent with FCIHO. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 4 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing. Associate’s degree in a technical field. Experience in assembly and testing of hydraulic and electromechanical actuators and working knowledge of hydraulic test equipment. Skills Position Criteria Ability to read assembly blueprints, wiring diagrams, and testing schematics. Working knowledge of shop test equipment and testing procedures and ability to test a variety of assemblies/sub‑assemblies. Proficiency with inspection gauges, multimeters, force scales, torque wrenches, and production test equipment. Ability to work from written and verbal instructions. Familiarity with Eaton production units or similar electromechanical products and retain knowledge of units produced. Ability to cross‑train on a variety of hardware/sub‑assemblies. Effective communication and interaction with other departments and organizations. Ability to accumulate and record data to support process improvement ideas. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. Computer proficiency. Attention to detail. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods. Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, walking, squatting. Pulling frequently, reaching frequently. Lifting/carrying: knees, waist. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (group lifts over 35 lbs).
