Student Assistant in Architectural Research Job Location: CU DenverDepartment of Architecture. This position can be flexible with some remote and some on-campus components. Purpose: This position offers an undergraduate student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in academic research while working with a faculty member on a book about student-led design-build case studies. The historical projects date as early as 1960 and encompass a range of topics including material experimentation, structural concepts, alternative construction techniques, and other novel ideas meant to push the boundaries of architectural science. The student will study these projects while learning about the research and publishing process. They will contribute to the organization, development, and preparation of the manuscript, in collaboration with other research assistants, graduate students, and the principal investigator. Learn More Position Description: The student assistant will support the research and organization of a faculty book project. Responsibilities include gathering and organizing research materials, managing references, communicating with project contributors, tracking image permissions, and assisting with manuscript preparation. This position is ideal for a student interested in developing research, communication, and organizational skills. Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct background research and locate relevant sources. Organize research materials and project files. Help manage references and citations. Contact project contributors to request image and publication permissions. Track correspondence and maintain project records. Assist with organizing manuscript content. Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas. Complete other research-related tasks as needed. Skills and Knowledge Gained: Research and information literacy Academic writing and publishing Professional communication Project organization and time management Collaboration with faculty on a research project Minimum Qualifications: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, professionally, and meet deadlines. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneDrive. Interest in learning about research, writing, or publishing. Preferred Qualifications: CAP Architecture Studio I and II, or related introductory design studio experience. Interest in architecture, design, education, or the built environment. Experience with research, writing, and editing is helpful but not required. Position Commitment: 5 - 10 per week (dependent on work-study award amount) Preferred Work Times: Weekly check-in day to be arranged with the assistants, all other work hours are flexible with student's schedule.
