GDDR Specialist Opportunity

Scope of work: GDDR Specialist required to:

• Tenant migration support between existing GDDR instances
• Support design and planning of new GDDR instance
• Support deployment of new instance

The expected commitment would be 2 to 3-hours workshops per week, along with some occasional evening and weekend work. The project is ongoing through the end of 2026, with a planned summer break during July and August. The workshops are mainly conducted in the afternoon. There will also be requirements to support activities at unconventional hours due to the number of cutover migrations planned. Please see the more detailed scope of work:

• GDDR (Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart) is a mainframe software layer for business continuity and disaster recovery automation
• The project scope is regarding DLm tenants that exist in a GDDR scenario. We already have a specialist covering DLm so only GDDR knowledge is actually needed.
• DLm (Disk Library for mainframe) is the underlying hardware that acts as tape emulation
• The SA is expected to be hands-on and present when the configurations and migrations are being executed.
• The current approach is that we consult the customer in creating a playbook for each step (customer manages the document, SA has to provide input)
• We execute the playbook together with the customer (customer is the one typing in the commands, SA is providing guidance on the call and is able to troubleshoot on the call)
• Mix of both design sessions and execution, but all is reliant on implementation knowledge/experience.

To summarize I'm expecting the GDDR specialist to first:

1. Create a design with the customer to go from a three site GDDR to a two site GDDR
2. Support the customer in creating all the necessary playbooks regarding:

• Configuration steps
• Migration of tenants

• Support the execution of those steps.
