Registered Nurse - CVICU

This is a 13-week contract position.

Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Schedule: Night shift - 3x12-hour (19:00 - 19:30)

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Cardio-Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR. This role requires proficiency in the management of critical care patients and associated medical devices.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor critically ill patients in the CVICU.
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies.
• Provide care for patients requiring ventilatory support and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Insert and manage central/PICC lines, A-lines, and chest tubes.
• Perform procedures such as intubation, phlebotomy, and arterial blood gas analysis.
• Monitor patient vital signs, interpret dysrhythmias, and administer emergency medications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding care plans and health management.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at the time of submission.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU experience is required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training in a CVICU was completed.
• Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases and devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax is essential.
