Position Overview
The Lab Technician supports quality control, manufacturing operations, and product development by performing analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
This is a hands-on laboratory position within a chemical manufacturing environment. The role performs wet chemistry and instrumental analysis, reviews and interprets laboratory data, maintains laboratory equipment, and ensures testing is completed accurately and in accordance with established safety, quality, and operating procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a strong laboratory foundation, experience working within a quality-controlled environment, and the ability to recognize abnormal or potentially inaccurate test results.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely perform analytical and quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Provide laboratory and technical support to manufacturing operations and assist with the evaluation of new raw-material sources and finished products.
• Perform basic wet chemistry and operate Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) instrumentation.
• Receive, identify, label, prepare, and analyze laboratory samples while maintaining proper sample integrity and traceability.
• Accurately enter, review, interpret, and transfer laboratory data.
• Identify abnormal, inaccurate, or out-of-specification results and take appropriate steps to verify data before processing or reporting results.
• Perform laboratory calculations and compare analytical results against established product specifications.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment and ensure required inspections, calibrations, preventative maintenance, and certifications are completed.
• Follow established SOPs, quality procedures, safety requirements, and laboratory best practices.
• Maintain laboratory inventory, including chemicals, supplies, materials, and equipment required for daily operations.
• Provide guidance to manufacturing employees regarding proper sampling techniques for raw materials and other production samples.
• Provide oversight and training to laboratory personnel to promote consistent testing practices, safety compliance, and quality standards.
• Assist with workload coordination and adjust laboratory priorities or personnel assignments as necessary to support changing production demands.
• Conduct routine and random facility walkthroughs to support safety and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate with internal departments and external parties regarding sample status and testing requirements.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Research & Development (R&D) teams to ensure sample and testing accuracy.
• Operate additional laboratory and office equipment as necessary to meet operational and scheduling demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline preferred; relevant laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on experience performing analytical, quality control, or product testing in a laboratory environment.
• Experience with wet chemistry techniques such as titration, pH, concentration, moisture, density, or similar analytical testing.
• Hands-on ICP, ICP-OES, or ICP-MS experience is highly desirable.
• Experience testing raw materials, in-process materials, and/or finished products preferred.
• Experience following and documenting work according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Familiarity with ISO standards, Quality Management Systems (QMS), GMP, GLP, or other regulated/quality-controlled environments.
• Comfortable performing laboratory calculations and entering, reviewing, and interpreting analytical data.
• Ability to recognize questionable or out-of-specification results and appropriately investigate or escalate findings.
• Experience with laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with laboratory, manufacturing, quality, and R&D personnel.
• Previous experience training or providing guidance to laboratory personnel is a plus.

This position operates within an industrial chemical manufacturing facility and requires adherence to established laboratory and plant safety procedures.
