Nurse Practitioner or Physician AssistantPrimary position requires provision of clinic services within the occupational health clinics reporting to the Medical Director and Manager of Occupational Health and Audiology.Performs complete physical examinations for annual requirements as well as periodic surveillance examinations per company policy, OSHA and NAVSEA.Conducts sick call on ill or injured employees with supervision from the Medical Director. This includes suturing lacerations, obtaining appropriate x-rays and laboratory tests and counseling employees concerning the results. Reviews restrictions on those returning to work and assists in the accommodation review process as needed.Liaisons with the Employee Assistance Program, Workers Compensation Facilitator, Benefits office and local physicians. Responsible for medical and emergency protocols including infection control and blood borne pathogen issues. Must be capable and responsible with program management of OSHA Medical Surveillance, Marine Evaluations, Travel, and Off-Site Monitoring. Must be capable of becoming Radiation Health Indoctrination (RHI) certified via the United States Navy.This position will be for our Groton location.Shift M-F 3:30 pm 12:00 amEight-hour shift. Shifts subject to change. Variations occur generally between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., with rare instances of weekend coverage.SkillsMust possess good communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to work well with a variety of peopleMust have experience with an Electronic Medical RecordAbility to prioritize and solve problemsAbility to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to chronic medical and social problemsAbility to relate well to patients, families, co-workers and physiciansAbility to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, taking into consideration patient/family needs, level of understanding and available local resourcesAbility to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with a focus on disease prevention and health maintenanceWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and basic computer maneuverabilityMust possess a professional attitude and be willing to complete all clinical as well as administrative assignmentsQualificationsBachelor's Degree (or higher) - new graduates will be consideredGraduate of an accredited school of nursing and a graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship OR a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)Certification by the applicable professional organizationCurrent state license - must comply with all state requirements and regulationsBLS, CPR certificationPrescriptive authority in accordance with state rules and regulations - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification
