Travel Oncology RN Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Oncology RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a member of our team, you will deliver specialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital and clinical settings, administering treatments, managing side effects, and providing education and emotional support to patients and families. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Oncology RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Summary The Oncology Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients, administering treatments, managing side effects, and offering education and emotional support. The RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while adhering to professional standards of confidentiality, integrity, and safety. Essential Work Functions Educate patients and families about oncology procedures and treatments, addressing concerns and fostering understanding Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved oncology nursing techniques Prepare and maintain oncology‑specific equipment, assisting oncologists during treatment and examinations Monitor and address patients’ comfort, safety, and side effects, implementing interventions to enhance quality of life Assess and monitor patients, recording conditions and reactions, identifying changes, and documenting outcomes Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical records Respond to life‑saving situations based on oncology nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol Develop and implement individualized education plans for patients and families, covering treatment regimens, side‑effect management, and self‑care strategies Participate in oncology quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery Advocate for oncology patients, supporting them in navigating complex treatment plans Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities Remain in a stationary position, move about, and move equipment (50–100 lbs) Push, pull, and bend as required Interpersonal Skills Work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) while presenting a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills Grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment Mental Requirements Cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure Work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently when required Handle irregular activity schedules occasionally while maintaining continuous concentration on details Sensory Possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate Benefits Highly competitive pay for travel professionals Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with first‑day coverage Paid Time Off (PTO) after 1,560 hours Life and short‑term disability offered 401(k) matching Aggressive refer‑a‑friend bonus program 24/7 recruiter support Reimbursement for licensure and CEUs Other Duties Disclaimer: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
