The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing medical emergencies. This role involves triaging, assessing, and providing immediate care in a fast-paced environment. ER RNs work collaboratively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver rapid care for a wide range of medical conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon arrival, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms.
• Triage: Prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition, ensuring that critical cases are attended first.
• Emergency Care: Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as per physician orders. Perform emergency procedures like wound care, and splinting.
• Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatments, adjusting interventions as needed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the medical team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
• Documentation: Accurately record patient information, treatment plans, and responses to care in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required.
• Patient Education: Provide patients and families with information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care instructions.
• Emergency Response: Respond to rapid response calls, code blue situations, or any critical situation requiring immediate intervention.
• Patient Advocacy: Ensure that the patient's rights, dignity, and preferences are respected at all times while providing care.
• Infection Control: Follow all infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infection for patients and healthcare staff.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in the ongoing evaluation of care quality and suggest improvements in processes or procedures to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Preferred: BSN.
• Licenses/ certifications/ registrations Required: Current RN license in the State of Oregon. ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certification required. Preferred: Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty preferred.
• Experience Required: None required. Preferred: Previous Clinical Experience.
