Job Description Prescribes nursing care, delegates nursing activities, and coordinates the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care to achieve optimal quality caring consistent with the health care system’s mission, nursing philosophy, objectives, and standards. Has full access to patient health information. Assesses patient’s needs, accurately analyzes the assessment data collected, identifies problems, and formulates appropriate nursing interventions. Utilizes appropriate Standards of Care, policies, and procedures in developing a plan of care. Institutes appropriate protective/preventative measures when indicated. Identifies and provides appropriate education relevant to the patient’s plan of care during the visit, evaluates the patient’s response to education, and makes referrals to other disciplines when appropriate. Demonstrates basic knowledge of medication actions and side effects and administers medications safely. Evaluates patient responses to treatments when they are completed. Handles patient complaints. Establishes patient payment schedules, enters patient registration and discharge information. Performs accurate posting of all insurance payments/charges and filing of all statements/claims, ensures accurate procedure/diagnosis codes and adjustments to patient accounts. Assists with the physician schedule, which includes on-call, in-office, and hospital schedules. Contributes toward the revision of practice policies and procedures, job descriptions, and fee schedules as requested. Requirements Current Registered Nurse licensure in N.C. 3 years of medical office experience required; 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred. BLS Certification by American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Computer skills including Microsoft Office and an electronic health record platform. Ability to make independent decisions and resolve problems/conflicts effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation covering age and population specific skills for the areas of practice the RN will work in and addressing growth and development needs for the patients the RN will serve.
