Program Director

Girls Inc of Greater Lowell is seeking a full-time, experienced Program Director to oversee the day-to day operations of our center – based school age childcare, teen and outreach programs. Join us in our mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold!

Position Summary

The Program Director has the primary responsibility for the development, and implementation of a safe and nurturing environment; direct responsibility for implementation of all program goals in the areas of social, educational and child growth and development in two primary delivery models: Center based programs, school based programs, and community organizations programs. Center based programs are delivered on-site at GIGL’s facility during our of school time (after school and summer hours). School based programs are delivered through partnerships with schools and Community organizations, and provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of the School Age Child Care program (ages 5-12 years), Middle School (ages 13-15), and School based Program (5-18years), and Teen program (16-18 years and beyond).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage: School Age Child Care Program Administrator / Manager, Enrollment and Family Access Coordinator, Middle & Teen Program Manager, and Teen Ambassador;
• Create and actively promote a comfortable, safe, nurturing and welcoming environment where every member is treated with dignity and respect in a friendly manner;
• Planning, supervising and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for girls in accordance with the policies and philosophy of Girls Inc.;
• Oversees the development of program curriculum, monitoring teacher’s curriculum goals, lesson plans and the implementation of a programmatic curriculum;
• Participate in recruiting and interviewing for all program staff.
• Daily supervision of all program staff, activities and goals; addresses and resolves issues related to program operational needs.
• Review and ensure accuracy on all forms relating to attendance, billing, eligibility and administrative records;
• Compliance with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to the Department of Early Education and Care, Massachusetts Department of Education, City of Lowell, etc.;
• Participate in the program budget planning and management;
• Attend all staff meetings and participate in recommended training programs, in-service workshops and other opportunities for professional growth;
• Oversee parent communications through daily interactions, newsletter, family orientations and family nights;
• Work to develop resources, collaborations and joint affiliations that directly aid or benefit the program;
• Provide administrative oversight by reviewing girl’s files, monitoring tracking tools, develop and updating efficient policies and procedures and monthly reports as required;
• Work with staff to ensure all vouchers and private pay slots are utilized and supported to the best of the ability of the organization;
• Work with Development and Communications Director and/or Executive Director for the submission and management of grants;
• Participate in agency-wide planning initiatives
• Other related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

• B.S. preferred – Special consideration may be given for equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
• Must meet DEEC qualifications for Program Director;
• Must have demonstrated supervision and teaching experience with school age children;
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Early Education and Care policies and requirements;
• A desire to care for girls and provide the best possible environment for them to grow strong, smart and bold;
• Ability and understanding in supervisory skills and methods;
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Outlook;
• Experience with EEC required software;
• Bi-lingual, Spanish/English preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position requires the ability to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the physical ability to perform light lifting. Work is performed in an office, and this person may be required to

travel to various locations in the Greater Lowell community.

Compensation & Benefits

• This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position. Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise.
