Position Summary

The Field Installation Manager leads and develops Systems Engineers, Lead Installers, Installation Technicians, and Installation Support Personnel. This role ensures installation teams have the training, tools, equipment, and support needed to perform safely, efficiently, and at a high level.

Working closely with PMO and Service Operations, the Field Installation Manager manages staffing, scheduling, performance, and resource allocation so Project Managers can focus on project execution and customer deliverables.

This role is accountable for labor utilization, workforce readiness, productivity, installation quality, schedule adherence, employee development, and margin improvement across installation operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Directly manage all Systems Engineers, Lead Installers, Installation Technicians, and Installation Support Personnel.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
• Develop and maintain technical training programs to improve installation quality, efficiency, and professional growth.
• Identify high-potential employees and create development plans to support advancement opportunities.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Lead performance evaluations and establish measurable performance goals for installation personnel.

Workforce Planning & Utilization

• Monitor and manage technician utilization to ensure efficient deployment of labor resources.
• Ensure installation personnel are scheduled effectively while maintaining high levels of billable productivity.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to align labor resources with project requirements and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the Client Experience Manager to support service needs when appropriate and aligned with business priorities.
• Manage workforce allocation to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
• Identify staffing constraints and develop plans to meet operational demands.
• Analyze workforce trends and recommend staffing adjustments based on forecasted demand.

Operational Support

• Ensure installation personnel are equipped with all required tools, equipment, PPE, technology, vehicles, and uniforms necessary to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
• Establish and maintain standards for field readiness, professionalism, workmanship, and customer interaction.
• Oversee onboarding and field integration processes for new installation personnel.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety programs, industry standards, and customer site requirements.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for installation personnel concerns and operational needs.
• Promote a safety-first culture through training, audits, and accountability measures.

Schedule & Resource Management

• Maintain workforce schedules within the company's ERP platform to ensure accurate resource planning and labor forecasting.
• Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust staffing assignments to support project requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure installation milestones and completion dates are achieved.
• Coordinate with PMO and Service Leadership regarding labor demands, staffing priorities, and capacity constraints.
• Ensure labor resources are properly allocated to support project commitments and operational objectives.
• Assist in forecasting workforce requirements based on project pipeline, labor backlog, and organizational growth plans.

Performance & Financial Management

• Own and monitor key operational performance indicators, including:

  • Gross Margin Performance
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing operational efficiency and profitability.
• Analyze labor performance and identify opportunities to improve installation productivity and execution.
• Partner with Operations Leadership to evaluate labor trends and workforce performance.
• Be accountable for margin improvement through effective labor utilization, workforce management, and productivity enhancement.
• Develop action plans to address performance gaps and improve operational outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the electronic security industry performing installations, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated security systems.
• Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience managing direct reports within installation or field operations environments.
• Strong understanding of security system installation practices, project execution, and field operations.
• Experience managing workforce schedules, labor utilization, and field productivity.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop technical teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, workforce scheduling platforms, and operational reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications related to electronic security systems and security technology platforms.
• Industry certifications related to installation standards, including CSPM, SICC, OSHA 30, and PMP.
• Knowledge of financial metrics related to labor productivity, operational efficiency, workforce planning, and gross margin performance.
• Experience managing multi-site or regional installation teams.
