Director of Taxation

For more information, please visit Position Summary Stonehenge is currently seeking a Director of Taxation in Columbus, OH to support its finance and investment teams. The group primarily invests and provides financial services associated with various state and federal economic and community development initiatives, including small business investment funds and tax credit incentive programs. Core Responsibilities Overseeing the organization’s state and federal tax strategy, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations. Leading tax planning initiatives to optimize the organization’s overall tax position and managing other tax professionals. Highly experienced in partnership taxation, including federal and state reporting and compliance. Significant experience with tax consulting and planning to optimize tax and organizational structures. Highly organized to oversee preparation and timely completion of federal and state filing requirements for many legal entities. Provide tax strategies and planning to develop and execute long-term tax strategies for the organization. Monitor changes in tax legislation and represent the company during audits and inquiries conducted by regulatory agencies. Conduct research and planning according to current federal and state tax laws and advising senior management on the tax impact of current and proposed company activities and transactions. Lead tax department and train, mentor and supervise tax staff. Partner with C-suite executives, in-house legal counsel, and finance departments to align tax policies with broader business objectives. Facilitate communication with appropriate government agencies and in-house counsel related to tax matters. Oversee reporting and payment of all local, state and federal taxes. Qualifications/Education Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Requires 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate and partnership tax management or public accounting, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP, federal, state, and local tax laws, and experience with tax provision and financial reporting software. Effective communication skills to convey complex tax concepts to non-tax executives. Highly motivated and take initiative to stay up to date with industry, government and state regulations through continuing education and subscriptions to professional journals.
