About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required; first-time travelers accepted License: Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with surgical patients Description: The position involves providing care in a 24-bed unit. The average length of stay for patients is 1.2 days. Common patient diagnoses include total hip and knee replacements, bariatric surgery, urology surgical patients, spine surgery, and GYN procedures. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6, with CNAs present at a ratio of 1:9. Support staff includes a charge nurse and CNAs. Phlebotomy services, IV/VAT, and telemetry monitoring are available. Clientist and intensivist services are available 24/7 if needed. Orientation includes two days of departmental training. Unit culture is strong, fostering teamwork and collaboration. Daily responsibilities involve monitoring patient conditions and administering medications. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is required, specifically with EPIC. Familiarity with the following equipment is necessary: Alaris IV pump, Omnicell medication dispensing system, and Phillips monitors. Minimal floating is required but may involve floating to a medical surgical unit if necessary.
