This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AEM Technical Lead based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the technical direction of enterprise-scale digital experience platforms built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services. You will combine deep backend engineering expertise with architectural leadership to design scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will influence technical decisions, establish best practices, and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on in complex implementations. The position requires a strong balance between strategic thinking, technical execution, and stakeholder collaboration. You will contribute to digital transformation initiatives for global organizations, helping shape innovative customer experiences. Accountabilities:

The AEM Technical Lead will be responsible for defining technical vision, guiding architecture decisions, and ensuring successful delivery of digital experience solutions. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, product, architecture, and business teams to create scalable platforms and continuously improve delivery practices.

• Own and drive solution architecture for Adobe Experience Manager Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services implementations.
• Define technical standards, development guidelines, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Establish and enforce non-functional requirements related to performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Lead backend architecture decisions, API strategies, integrations, and technical design reviews.
• Develop and guide AEM backend solutions using technologies such as Sling Models, OSGi services, custom workflows, Content Fragment Models, and GraphQL APIs.
• Design and support headless and omnichannel architectures across multiple digital channels.
• Implement and oversee integrations with CRM, PIM, DAM, marketing technology, and identity platforms.
• Guide CI/CD pipelines, release processes, automated testing practices, and cloud-native delivery approaches.
• Establish observability frameworks, monitoring practices, and performance optimization strategies.
• Ensure security best practices, including authentication, authorization, API protection, and data governance.
• Mentor backend engineers, support technical planning, and promote knowledge sharing within teams.
• Act as a technical point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring delivery quality, alignment, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineering professional with strong expertise in Adobe Experience Manager, cloud technologies, and enterprise architecture. You should have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and lead teams through challenging digital transformation initiatives.

• 8–12+ years of experience in software engineering, with proven experience in senior technical leadership roles.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• 4+ years working with AEM as a Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services.
• Strong expertise in Java (11+/17), Sling, OSGi, JCR, Oak, and AEM Core Components.
• Experience with Content Fragments, GraphQL APIs, Universal Editor, and modern headless delivery models.
• Strong knowledge of API design, REST/GraphQL integrations, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and release management tools such as Cloud Manager, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with observability tools, Infrastructure as Code practices, and Dispatcher/CDN optimization.
• Strong understanding of security practices, including OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Adobe IMS, secrets management, and secure API design.
• Experience optimizing application performance through caching strategies, query tuning, and indexing.
• Ability to lead architecture discussions, manage technical trade-offs, and influence decision-making.
• Strong communication skills, consulting mindset, curiosity, and collaborative leadership style.
• Nice-to-have experience with Adobe I/O Runtime, Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics integrations, API gateways, GraphQL federation, composable architectures, or emerging technologies such as AI.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and consulting environments is considered an advantage.
