Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. This position involves providing respiratory care to patients in a critical care environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in mechanical ventilation, critical care procedures, and various high-flow respiratory therapies.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy and treatments as prescribed by the medical team.
• Conduct drawing and analysis of arterial blood gases (ABGs) from arterial lines and punctures.
• Assist with intubations and provide support during advanced airway management.
• Operate and manage respiratory equipment, including ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust therapies based on clinical assessments.
• Collaborate with physicians and medical staff to deliver optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and PALS or NRP are required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) will be considered.
• Experience working with adult patients in critical care settings is a must.
• Strong background in mechanical ventilation and critical care protocols.

Work Environment

This position involves working in an inpatient setting, including the Emergency Department (ED). The Respiratory Therapist will typically work night shifts, with an every other weekend commitment. There will always be team members present during shifts.

Additional Information

• Department-specific orientation will be provided.
• Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.
• The role may include floating to various departments as needed.
• Must be comfortable working under a supervisor with leads on each shift.
