Actalent is hiring a Animal Research Associate!!

Join our dedicated team to manipulate, observe, and care for genetically altered rodents in preparation for scientific study. This role involves performing essential tasks for processing these animals, including animal identification, breeding, weaning, and the collection of tissue samples for DNA or RNA analysis. Additionally, you will carry out natural history analyses upon request, document crucial data in our Data Management System, and manage other responsibilities such as breeding rodents for embryo donation and reception.

Responsibilities

• Manipulate, observe, and care for genetically altered rodents.
• Perform animal identification, breeding, weaning, and tissue sample collection.
• Conduct natural history analyses as requested.
• Record data in the Data Management System.
• Breed rodents serving as embryo donors and recipients.
• Perform husbandry duties such as cage changing.
• Manage the packing and shipping of rodents.
• Assist with basic vivarium tasks like ordering supplies and general maintenance.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in animal science and research.
• Experience in animal handling and husbandry.
• Competence in marking, breeding, weaning, and tissue sample collection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum AS degree with coursework in biology, or a minimum of 2 years' experience with laboratory animals.
• Previous experience handling laboratory rodents is preferred.

Work Environment

The position is based in a laboratory/vivarium setting, with standard hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tarrytown, NY.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
