TNT Kid’s Fitness & Gymnastics is seeking an energetic, safety-focused, and positive Part-Time Competitive Cheer Coach to support athletes in our competitive cheer program.

The Competitive Cheer Coach plans and implements age-appropriate practices that build athlete skills, confidence, teamwork, discipline, and a positive competitive experience. This role provides instruction in cheerleading fundamentals, stunts, tumbling, jumps, motions, dance, routine execution, and competition preparation consistent with TNT standards and applicable competition rules.

The ideal candidate is dependable, encouraging, organized, and committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and high-energy environment for athletes, families, and fellow coaches.

Hours will vary based on team assignments, enrollment, practice schedules, events, competitions, and program needs.

• Typical practices may occur during afternoons and evenings on weekdays.

• Weekend availability may be required for competitions, showcases, camps, clinics, special events, team activities, and parent conferences.

• Travel may be required for competitions and other program events.

• The successful candidate must be able to work assigned practices, events, meetings, and competition schedules reliably.

• Plan, lead, and implement structured, developmentally appropriate practices for assigned competitive cheer teams.

• Teach and reinforce cheerleading fundamentals, including motions, jumps, dance, stunting, tumbling, transitions, formations, performance quality, routine execution, and competition readiness.

• Teach safe skill progressions and provide spotting, supervision, and instruction consistent with TNT procedures, coach qualifications, and applicable cheer safety standards.

• Maintain active supervision of athletes and consistently enforce TNT safety expectations, gym rules, equipment-use requirements, and incident-reporting procedures.

• Assist with the development, learning, cleaning, and execution of competition routines and choreography.

• Evaluate athlete skills and readiness; provide constructive feedback and communicate concerns or developmental needs to the Competitive Cheer Department Manager.

• Build positive, professional relationships with athletes, parents/guardians, coworkers, and TNT leaders.

• Participate in athlete evaluations, parent conferences, practices, team meetings, competitions, special events, and athlete-progress discussions as assigned.

• Complete assigned administrative responsibilities, including attendance, skill tracking, evaluations, incident documentation, and other required program records.

• Assist with equipment setup, equipment inspection, gym reset, cleaning duties, and closing responsibilities.

• Remain informed about TNT events, team schedules, competition requirements, policies, procedures, and operational updates.

• Maintain all required certifications, training, professional memberships, and background-screening clearances.

• Perform other duties consistent with the purpose and scope of the position, as assigned.

• Ability to create a positive, safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experience for children and youth.

• Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with athletes, parents/guardians, coworkers, and leaders.

• Knowledge of, or ability to learn, cheerleading fundamentals, proper stunt progressions, spotting techniques, tumbling safety, and performance instruction.

• Ability to learn and consistently apply TNT curriculum, safety practices, coaching expectations, and gym policies.

• Strong communication, teamwork, customer-service, dependability, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, active gym environment; adapt to changing athlete, class, staffing, event, and competition needs; and work independently while collaborating with the TNT team.

• Ability to work assigned afternoons, evenings, weekends, special events, parent conferences, and competition-travel schedules as required by program needs.

• Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications, training, professional memberships, and background-screening clearances required for the position.

• Previous competitive cheerleading coaching experience.

• Former competitive cheerleader, dancer, tumbler, gymnast, or stunting experience.

• Experience teaching stunts, tumbling, jumps, dance, choreography, formations, or competitive routines.

• Current enrollment in, interest in, or completion of coursework or a degree in Elementary Education, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Child Development, or a related field.

• Current CPR/First Aid certification.

• Current or previous USA Cheer membership, safety certification, coaching education, or related cheer credential.

USA Cheer Coach membership requirements include background screening, athlete-protection training, concussion-awareness training, safety and risk-management training, a waiver, and agreement to the member code of conduct. TNT can require these before an employee independently coaches or set a defined timeframe for completing them after hire, and a North Dakota fingerprint back-ground check is required. Must have a valid driver's license to apply for this position unless underage for a valid driver's license.
