The Corrosion Technician performs tests, repairs and maintenance related to pipeline corrosion. Inspects and tests facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential corrosion problems. Responsibilities include working independently, making field decisions without direct supervision, and being responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation. The technician compiles and submits field data for senior staff review, is familiar with standard survey and construction practices for corrosion control projects, and evaluates field data to prepare draft reports for the area supervisor. Adherence and promotion of company safety measures are mandatory at all times.

Qualifications include a minimum of 0-3 years experience in the corrosion control industry, particularly related to cathodic protection work. The technician should be able to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients, and management staff. Willingness to travel as required for the job, a clean driving record, and basic computer skills in MS Office programs and field applications for surveying and data management are required. Availability for occasional evening and weekend work is also necessary. This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 60 pounds, and, in general, being physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment.

Physical demands include extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind, is also required. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are essential.
