POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), working autonomously and in collaboration with the collaborating physician(s), is responsible for providing comprehensive health care and patient care management within their scope of practice. This includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health conditions, as well as health promotion and disease prevention.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts comprehensive health assessments, including obtaining detailed patient histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, evidence-based guidelines, and patient goals. Diagnoses acute and chronic health conditions and manages them effectively, including prescribing medications, ordering therapies, and providing patient education. Prepares pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointments with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol. Confers with collaborating physician(s) regarding complex patient cases, incomplete patient tests/consults, or other incomplete orders prior to patient visit, as needed and per protocol. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and reviewing the reason for visit and relevant history. Educates and counsels patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, treatment options, and self-management strategies. Encourages patients to focus on preventative tasks and empowers them in their healthcare decisions. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Performs procedures within their scope of practice, such as injections, wound care, and assisting with specialized examinations (e.g., EKGs, GYN exams). Triages and responds to patient communications (e.g., phone calls, electronic messages) within practice policy, providing timely and appropriate clinical advice. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and procedures. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information and adheres to HIPAA regulations; treats staff, providers, patients, and visitors with respect and professionalism. Performs other related work as required within the scope of practice and as delegated by the supervising physician or practice leadership.PRIOR TRAINING, EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Education Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state. Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty from a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., ANCC, AANP). Current DEA registration. Current CPR and BLS certification. Experience Experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred. Skills Advanced knowledge of medical practice, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based care. Expertise in conducting comprehensive physical examinations and interpreting diagnostic findings. Proficiency in diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures relevant to the CRNP's specialty. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used in the practice setting. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions in a clinical environment. Advanced ability to perform a variety of treatments and administer medications safely and effectively. Ability to accurately take and interpret vital signs. Highly developed skills in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Strong skills in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Excellent skill in identifying and resolving complex patient care problems.
