Equipment Maintenance Technician III - Back End Days (BED)

Job Description

Fujifilm Dimatix, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician III for a compressed work week schedule. The pay rate for this position is $28.00 - $38.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position schedule is considered a compressed work week - back end days - every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday. Hours are 5:30 am - 6:00 pm.

The Equipment Maintenance Technician III is responsible for the maintenance of wafer fabrication assembly and facilities equipment for production lines. The technician will troubleshoot and repair downed equipment and assist engineering staff in establishing and implementing periodic equipment maintenance. The technician will use test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts and rebuild manufacturing equipment. The technician may participate in safety forums, Emergency Response Teams, and station improvement teams.

Skill: Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.

Job complexity: Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.

Essential job functions include:

• Maintenance of wafer fabrication assembly and facilities equipment for production lines.
• Troubleshooting and repairing downed equipment and assisting engineering staff in establishing and implementing periodic equipment maintenance.
• Scheduling and working with outside contractors for equipment maintenance covered by service contracts.
• Identifying PM's to support stability of wafer fabrication assembly and facilities equipment for production lines with minimal assistance.
• Using test and diagnostic equipment to perform troubleshooting and repair wafer fabrication assembly and facilities equipment.
• Rebuilding manufacturing equipment as required.
• Providing training to other technicians and operators.
• Responsible for training of peers on process and operational improvement and equipment maintenance.
• Performing equipment modifications as directed by supervisors, managers, and engineers.
• Determining methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Collecting and evaluating operating and process data and recommending means to improve operational processes.
• Working on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
• Understanding implications of work and making recommendations for solutions.
• Responsible for, and making recommendations to, fulfill departmental quality, safety, quantity, and teamwork requirements.
• May be required to ensure other technicians adhere to departmental quality, safety, quantity, and teamwork requirements.
• Trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

Qualifications to perform this job successfully include:

• High school degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of related experience.
• Experience working with one or more of the following: high vacuum equipment, lithography tools, wet benches, and/or measurement equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair wafer fabrication assembly and facilitate equipment for product lines, with minimal assistance.
• Basic computer skills including the use of standard office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team, as well as individually.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be highly organized.
• Must be a self-starter and comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be a fast-learner.
• Must be able to be trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

Desired:

• Associate's degree or higher.

Physical demands include:

• Standing or walking, use of hands to finger, handling, feeling, reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, or crawling over two-thirds of the time.
• Lifting up to 25 lbs over two-thirds of the time.
• Must have normal color vision and must be able to identify wiring color codes.

Work environment characteristics include:

• Works in wafer fabrication and clean room environment, requiring clean room gowning (smock, hood, gloves, booties, etc.)
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.
• Exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.)
• Works in a facility that houses hazardous chemicals.
• May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.

Other duties as may be assigned. Each employee's primary objective is to assure that the quality, delivery, and cost controls within his/her control meet or exceed all of our internal and external customers' requirements.
