Shift/Location: Nights - Greater Heights \*Prior supervisory experience preferred \*Bachelors degree or higher \*NICU experience## **Job Description******MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS********Education:**** Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care, required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.****Licenses/Certifications:***** Current State of Texas RCP license* Registered Respiratory Therapist* Certified in Basic Life Support* Additional specialty certification from the NBRC, preferred****Experience / Knowledge / Skills:***** Minimum of five (5) years of experience with five (5) years of critical care experience.* Effective oral and written communication skills.**PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILTIES:*** Responsible for supervising the daily operations and staff of the Respiratory Care department.* Provides leadership in the absence of the department director or manager.* Ensures flow of communication between staff and department leadership.* Assists with maintaining department supplies and equipment.* Assists with preparing the department schedule and ensures appropriate staffing.* Prepares and distributes shift assignments.* Monitors staff performance and assist with re-direction and education.* Mentors/leads/trains lesser experienced practitioners.* Assists in developing, implementing, and managing new programs/policies. Refines existing programs/policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.* Monitors and manages the clinical quality for selected services, identifies areas for improvement and implements solutions.* Provides expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and other staff for populations served.* Performs duties in a manner to promote quality, patient care and customer service, while promoting patient safety and cost efficiency. Performs Respiratory Care quality assurance problem-solving and takes appropriate action.* Executes new product and equipment evaluation process; participates in the evaluation of new equipment.* Communicates effectively with professional colleagues; manages time effectively; documents appropriately in the electronic medical record and completes all required documentation accurately.* Considers the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience.* Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.* Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.* Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
