CNC Machine Operator (Angle Line) - 2nd Shift

Job Summary Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine metal fabrication related duties in support of the parts production process. This position is responsible for using control mechanisms or direct physical activity to transport structural steel sections inside the production area using a pendant‑controlled overhead crane. Educational Requirements High School Diploma or GED One (1) to three (3) years of fabrication machine operator experience or related field Experience with plasma machine, blocking machine, angle drill, multi‑head torch, rack punch, radial arm drill, and bed drill Qualifications Thorough understanding of shop practices and procedures Basic understanding of producing & inspecting precision components Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, tolerance information, route sheets, factory work orders, safety guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions) Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, dial indicators, protractors, and tape measures Knowledge of basic math and different dies Overhead and jib crane experience Ability to read tape measure and degree finder Ability to work in extreme temperatures Responsibilities Inspect own parts and those of others using tools such as tape measures, scales, calipers and possibly various computerized measuring devices Read and complete production orders, QA and manufacturing documentation as required Perform secondary operations, such as cleaning and debarring, on manufactured parts as required Operate overhead hoists and forklifts to move material and necessary equipment for machine operations Arrange parts for production and deliver raw stock, partially completed work, and completed jobs to appropriate storage or production areas Record machinery operation variances from normal settings and results Complete basic preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment Perform visual safety checks for machine wear, damage to tooling, and correct positioning of safety guards Clean area as required Assist other machine operators as required Follow all safety regulations, keep work area clean and orderly, and wear appropriate PPE Follow Corporate Safety guidelines and may participate in audits, incident investigations, etc. as needed Inform Supervisor immediately of any malfunction Visually inspect and confirm parts are within tolerance before bending Maintain good attendance and punctuality Follow shop foreman’s instructions Work overtime when requested Working Conditions Full‑time shop exposure Extreme temperatures (sometimes due to season) No travel requirements Perform work standing up for 8‑10 hours per day and up to 6 days a week Good vision, hearing, smell and balance Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders Will train on days and resume to 2nd shift schedule once training is completed Job Type & Compensation Full-time. Pay: $21.50 – $23.50 per hour. Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week.
