Position Overview

NuWest is seeking highly skilled Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurses for an 8-week assignment at a community-based acute care hospital. RNs will provide ICU-level recovery care to post-procedural patients from a wide range of areas, including the OR, IR, Cath Lab, GI, ECT, and pain procedures, as well as orthopedics, robotics, ophthalmology, colorectal, ENT, plastic surgery, gynecology, urology, vascular, podiatry, thoracic, and general surgery. The ideal candidate is adaptable, knows PACU protocols and patient safety measures, and can anticipate the needs of recovering surgical patients. Candidates must be fully committed to completing the 8-week assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide ICU-level recovery care to post-procedural patients from the OR and other procedural areas
• Monitor vital signs and assess patients continuously throughout recovery
• Recognize, manage, and respond to post-anesthesia complications
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered
• Anticipate and respond to the needs of recovering surgical patients to support a safe and efficient recovery
• Follow PACU protocols and patient safety measures
• Provide patient and family education
• Document care accurately and coordinate handoff with the surgical, procedural, and inpatient teams

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU/Recovery Room experience in a community-based acute care hospital, providing ICU-level care to post-procedural patients
• Successful completion of formal post-anesthesia care training
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS; MAB or CPI; and Los Angeles City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City)
• Completion of the required employee health clearance before the assignment start date
• Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening
