Behavioral Health Associate - Non-Merit

Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week. Responsibilities Provide peer support to individuals with substance use and co‑occurring behavioral health concerns. Meet with program participants to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community. Create participant‑driven wellness plans designed to address the barriers to wellness, including stigma, transportation, basic needs, housing, and others identified by the participant. Provide outreach to the community and distribute literature, brochures, and other related materials to educate the public and reduce stigma. Consistently document all participant encounters and outreach efforts. Participate in and contribute to team meetings, offering constructive feedback to support participants, the peer team, and the peer programs. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Required High school diploma or appropriate equivalent. Current Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or ability to obtain CPRS within one year of hire. Preferred Familiarity with harm reduction, trauma‑informed care, and person‑centered approaches. Experience working in a healthcare, behavioral health, or harm reduction setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of local recovery resources and services. Ability to work with diverse populations in a non‑judgmental and supportive manner. Licenses and Certificates Proof of Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist and Registered Peer Supervisor (if already certified) or ability to acquire CPRS within one year of hire is required at the time of application. Possession of a valid driver’s license equivalent to a non‑commercial, class C Maryland driver license is required at the time of application. Physical and Environmental Conditions Positions are essentially sedentary with occasional walking, lifting, or other restricted physical activities.
