Senior Software Development Engineer

Position Overview Senior Software Development Engineer focused on developing Simulation applications in C/C++ at RTX’s Patriot Software Development Team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C/C++ for complex systems. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency. Write and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture and design specifications. Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in C/C++ technologies. Perform light travel and off‑hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) when required. Ensure exclusive onsite presence. Qualifications – Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Proven experience developing complex systems and applications using C/C++, ADA, Java or other object‑oriented language. Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems. Experience leading a team of engineers. Experience with requirement analysis and documentation. Experience developing hardware‑in‑loop simulators for embedded systems. U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance. Qualifications – Preferred Active Secret security clearance. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles, especially for high‑concurrency and distributed systems. Experience in embedded systems, real‑time systems, or large‑scale applications. Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization. Experience with network communication protocols, shell scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), version control (Git), and embedded RTOSs (e.g., VxWorks, Integrity). Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies. Benefits Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200.
