Senior Correspondent - Big Tech and Privacy Regulation

Department: Content Editorial & Research Location: Washington Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 / year Description LBR/ALM seeks a Senior Correspondent to lead coverage of big tech, digital markets, and privacy regulation from Washington, DC. This senior reporting role oversees how our brands cover legal and policy challenges facing the world’s largest technology companies. Coverage includes policy, enforcement, litigation and legislative developments involving major technology firms, with focus on interactions with the DOJ, FTC, FCC, Congress, and international regulators. Reporting will help a sophisticated professional audience understand what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next. Key Responsibilities Lead coverage of regulatory, enforcement, and legislative developments affecting major technology companies in the US and globally. Break exclusive stories through a well‑developed network of sources across government, private practice, industry, and advocacy groups. Deliver insightful analysis explaining the legal, commercial and political significance of developments, not just technical detail. Write across formats, including daily news, long‑form features, data‑driven pieces, surveys, and live or event‑based coverage. Collaborate closely with colleagues across Law.com, GIR and GCR to deliver joined‑up, high‑impact coverage of overlapping regulatory themes. Represent the brands externally at conferences, industry events and client meetings, building profile, trust and relationships in the market. Lead or contribute to major editorial projects, such as special reports and cross‑brand initiatives. Edit and support other reporters where appropriate, helping maintain strong story framing and high editorial standards. Deliver clean, accurate, publication‑ready copy on deadline, operating with a high degree of autonomy and requiring minimal editing. Qualifications Established journalist with significant experience covering legal, regulatory, or policy beats, ideally with exposure to technology, antitrust or privacy. Strong existing contacts book in Washington, DC, with the ability to generate off‑diary stories and original insight. Track record of breaking exclusive news and producing authoritative, agenda‑setting analysis. Confidence in covering complex legal and regulatory issues with clarity, precision and speed. Ability to identify commercial, strategic and political implications, not just legal outcomes. Strong news judgment and ability to manage multiple deadlines while balancing daily reporting with longer‑term projects. Experience writing across different formats and platforms, and adapting tone for distinct but overlapping professional audiences. Collaborative mindset, with ability to work effectively across desks, brands and functions. Bachelor’s degree required; background in journalism, law, public policy or financial reporting advantageous.
