PATIENT INFORMATION • Admissions: Required • Case Mix: Gastroenterology – inpatient consults, ED consults, and transfers FACILITY INFORMATION • Trauma Level: Level 3• EMR System: Athena / Medhost • Support Staff Available: PA/NPs: 1 m-f • Reason for Coverage: Vacation PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• Required:
  
  • Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, with foreign body removal, with fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser), With injection of varices, Diagnostic, Therapeutic, With PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy))
    
  • Esophageal dilatation/manometry (Esophageal manometry interpretation)
    
  • Small Bowel biopsy
    
  • Lower GI endoscopy (Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible, Rigid), Colonoscopy (with biopsy, with excision of polyp))
    
  • Liver biopsy
    
  • Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
    
• Preferred:
  
  • ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography)
    
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
    

JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Licensed in TX • Board: Certified in Gastroenterology • Certifications: ACLS • Other Qualifications: Fellowship required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide inpatient gastroenterology call coverage • Manage ED consults and patient transfers • Perform advanced GI procedures including endoscopy and ERCP • Handle admissions related to GI cases • Respond within required call response time
