Corporate Accountant

Corporate Accounting Team Member

As a member of the Corporate Accounting Team, you will provide analytical and accounting support on a variety of topics, while learning and understanding all components of our accounting cycles for various corporate divisions within West Fraser. Once youhave developed an understanding of our operations and policies, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a specific area of our business. As a subject matter expert, you will become the go-to person for financial information including training other accountants and preparing reports for senior members of the finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and perform other month-end, quarterly and annual accounting tasks.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions.
• Support corporate functions and FP&A in budgeting and forecasting and in ensuring actual spend is accounted for properly.
• Perform SOX controls and provide support in both the external and internal audits.
• Work with others in Finance and other internal groups to improve accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and SOX standards.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 2+ Years' experience in accounting or finance.
• Prior experience working in Corporate Accounting a plus.
• Plans to obtain CPA or already licensed, a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Oracle, JDE or comparable ERP system preferred.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP/IFRS principles.
• A high level of independence, accountability, teamwork, good judgement, and attention to detail in a fast-paced changing environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
