Job SummaryA mission-driven organization in Ventura, CA is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity supporting affordable housing development, construction accounting, and nonprofit corporate accounting operations. This is a strong opportunity for a finance professional who values meaningful work, supportive leadership, community impact, and the chance to contribute to affordable housing initiatives through accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.Key Responsibilities- Supervise, review, train, and support Development and Corporate Staff Accountants while providing day-to-day accounting leadership.- Oversee full-cycle accounting for affordable housing development projects, construction activities, and nonprofit corporate operations.- Manage job cost accounting, project budgets, funding source tracking, construction draws, bank draws, and draw request processing.- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and variance reporting.- Ensure compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, lender requirements, grant regulations, restricted fund requirements, and other funding guidelines.- Coordinate audit support, tax preparation, Form 1099 reporting, compliance reviews, internal controls, financial systems, and process improvement initiatives.Compensation and Benefits- Direct hire opportunity.- Salary range: $95,000 to $105,000 per year.- Full-time, exempt position.- Location: Corporate office in Ventura, CA.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected VeteransThe Know Your Rights poster is available here:The pay transparency policy is available here:For temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer, AppleOne is pleased to offer major medical, dental, vision, 401k and any statutory sick pay where required.We are committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. For Los Angeles, CA applicants: Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.Additional SkillsRequired Qualifications and Skills- Oversee accounting operations for affordable housing development projects, construction activities, and nonprofit corporate functions.- Manage construction accounting, job cost records, project budgets, funding source tracking, and draw administration.- Lead financial close, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.- Supervise accounting staff and support continuity of accounting operations across the department.- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.- Understanding of real estate accounting principles, financial reporting procedures, and variance analysis.- Construction accounting experience required.- Knowledge of GAAP and strong understanding of accounting controls, reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.- Computer proficiency and ability to work effectively with accounting and financial systems.- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.- Ability to build positive working relationships with staff, lenders, funding partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.- Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and access to dependable transportation.- Commitment to affordable housing and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of low-income communities.Preferred Qualifications- Experience with nonprofit accounting or multi-funded organizations.- Familiarity with government grant regulations and compliance reporting.- Knowledge of low-income housing funding compliance requirements.- Experience with Yardi software.- Prior experience supporting audits, tax preparation, grant documentation, loan tracking, and restricted fund reporting.AppleOne Representative Contact InfoAccount Executive:BritneyBranch Phone:(661) 912-0142Location:Valencia, CA
